my first bow
I've written and compiled this blog for anyone interested in shooting arrows using a traditional bow (Recurve or Longbow) at static colourful targets rather than living things ;o)

A note for those thinking about hunting...
So I decided to write this blog mainly for me and other people interested in traditional archery or in shooting arrows with a Recurve Bow or Longbow that doesn't look like it fell off the back of a space shuttle ;o)
I love the history behind traditional archery... I have tremendous respect for the guys who have harnessed astonshing skill and expertise in bowmaking and bowmanship... and last but not least, archery for me is a pretty cool thing to get into.
Archery as a sport or recreational activity however draws to it people at all ages and from all kinds of backgrounds. Some of these guys will engage in using a bow to kill animals although there are plenty of people, like me, who are not the slightest bit interested in killing anything except perhaps the odd mosquito that lands on a target at the wrong time.
I have to say though that if you are interested in or thinking about getting into the stalking and killing of animals, do it right and learn as much as you possibly can from an expert hunter who can guide you through the skills, expertise, and ethics and get you to kill things in the most clean, effective, and humane way rather than going it alone or with a couple of morons on a lads night out. I think that just about covers this bit ;o)
